About our Institute
Our Institute came into existence in the year 1935 as the science wing of Lingaraj College. Later in 1941, it was named after its patron, the Late Sardar Raja Lakhamagouda Basavaprabhu Sardesai of Wantamuri. In 1944, the degree section was inaugurated by Sir C. V. Raman, the Nobel Laureate. In 1958, it was separated from Lingaraj College, as an independent and full-fledged Institute of Science leaning. In the year 2002, The PUC section was bifurcated from the degree section and named as Raja Lakhamagouda Pre-University college of Science. The Institute has been since long a full grade Science College permanently recognized by P.U. Board Bengaluru. The Institute has been recognized by the Karnataka board of Pre-University Education to teach two-years Pre-University Course from June 1971.
The College has been rendering yeoman service in the field of science education in the North-Karnataka for the last 100 years.
The Institution was witnessed for centenary celebration in 2016.
